  • When visiting Skazka Canyon, do bring food and water, as no stores nearby. The hot, dry weather requires sun protection and hydration. Remember to also pack a hat to shield yourself from the sun while exploring the canyon.
  • The Skazka Canyon entrance is 100 m from the main road, with an entrance fee of 50 som per person. This 2 km dirt road, is slightly uphill and takes 30-40 minutes to reach the canyon area. It’s a scenic route, and you may choose to hitchhike this part, as many locals are happy to give you a ride, especially if you’re traveling from Tosor or Bokonbaevo.
  • Exploring Skazka Canyon doesn’t take long, with 1 hour sufficient to visit the main viewpoints and some of the hidden corners. However, if you prefer a more leisurely visit, you can easily spend 2 to 3 hours discovering more of the beauty of the canyon. The canyon is smaller than the famous Charyn Canyon, so it’s a great spot for a shorter adventure.

  • Spring (April to Early June): Mild temperatures and vibrant colors, with wildflowers that add to contrast to the rocks. The softer light of spring enhances the natural beauty of the canyon and provides perfect photography conditions.
  • Autumn (September to October): Cooler weather, golden foliage, and fewer tourists make for a peaceful experience. The changing leaves add an extra layer of color which complements the canyon’s hues.
  • Summer (July and August): Visit early morning or late evening to avoid intense heat and capture the best lighting. The summer sun can be harsh, so plan accordingly to make the most of cooler hours.
  • Winter: Less crowded, with unique, softer colors, but be prepared for cold and potentially slippery paths. If you don’t mind the chill, winter offers a quiet, serene atmosphere to explore the canyon.
  • Golden Hour: Sunrise or sunset offers the most striking colors and shadows across the canyon which is ideal for photos. The low angle of the sun casts warm tones that accentuate the canyon’s intricate rock formations.
